Czechs in the City: The Czech-American Experience in Cleveland

Saint Wenceslas Church (Maple Heights) | March 25, 2009

One of our assignments was to visit a Czech sacred land mark in small groups. The scared land mark that my group and I went to was Saint Wenceslas Church in Maple Heights. The church and school are closed down now but when you look around at the area that the church is in you can tell that the neighborhood was rich with people and families. There are many single family homes that line the streets that surround the church and school. One thing that seems to be important to the parish is that the school and church are one. The reason I say that is because from the looks of the building the school and church are attached. So that tells me that it was important for the church to be part of the school and the school to be part of the church.
